There nothing like that feeling of finding the perfect home in Thornbury for buyers. I am fortunate that I am one of those guys that answers my phone at anytime, unless I am really busy such as family time or skiing (whoops). I don’t screen calls probably because I love all of the aspects of my business especially working for buyers in Thornbury Ontario . This particular day I was weeding my garden basically knee deep in mulch.
Well this couple was very typical in their process. They stated what they wanted from the Thornbury market, basically a three- five bedroom condominium that will hold value. I met them at my condo listing on Stuart Court in Lora Bay. I was in the middle of moving mulch on a hot Sunday afternoon and could use the break. Lora Bay is gorgeous golf course community, this condo had an interior garage entrance, crown molding, marble counter tops and jet bath tubs all the bell and whistles and priced to sell (It’s SOLD). The unit just was not for them. We looked at quite a few condominiums in Apple Jack, Rankin’s Landing and the Mill Pond. There was nothing available in Apple Ridge, and River Walk was not their thing.
We then found their dream vacation home at 11 Bay Street in Thornbury. The town home is situated on the Beaver River walking distance to downtown. This just happened to be the largest town home in Thornbury at just above 3700 square feet. This was the first town home, constructed by my buddy Dave Eaton at Baylyn Construction. The home is magnificently finished with custom wood work, crown molding, heated floors, custom marble from Italy, Sub Zero appliances and an elevator. Yes its own personal elevator! The interesting thing was that the home was the builders model suite, so to sweeten the deal for my buyers in the agreement I asked for all furniture, fixtures, fluffing stuff and drapes etc but please take all marketing. I saw the opportunity as the builder probably does not want to store the stuff until the next project is completed. I guessed correctly as well as the quick closing it was a firm deal.
These clients have no need for an elevator as they found the area because of the activities that the Blue Mountain area has to offer. Such as, some of the finest hiking in Southern Ontario, skiing (I know), bicycling and all of course the four season aspects of the area. Did I mention the amazing food and drink we have? Consider a population that in full swing has 5000 people, and can support 4 vine yards a new Brewery (hoping on this one!) 8 restaurants in town and its very own Cheese Gallery. Need I say more?
